UI/UX, Responsive Web Design & Template Development

The Problem.

CUCS (Center for Urban Community Services) is the largest provider of supportive housing services in the nation. CUCS maintains the city’s only centralized data base for the public that provides updated vacancy information about supportive housing opportunities in NYC. CUCS’ mission is to rebuild the lives of homeless and disadvantaged individuals and families.

CUCS approached PICnet for a redesign of their website. CUCS wanted a redesign that was professional, modern, easy to navigate, uncluttered and presented content in a way that was easy on the eyes. The site also needed to be mobile friendly, so users on smaller devices had a better experience in reaching their content goals.

The Solution.

A complete responsive website redesign, built on top of the Non-Profit Soapbox platform. I took the design questionnaire and static wireframes, created by the project managent team, and came up with a website design that had a professional and clean look with a hint of a ‘city’ behind it. Once the desktop design was done, I created the HTML/CSS Joomla template, styled all the elements on the website, and implemented the interactive features using jQuery. Once the initial site was launched, I then started on the designs for smaller resolutions (tablet, mini tablet, mobile, etc.) and went back into development to make the site responsive.
